FAQS

How do I donate to Mercy’s Mighty Foundation?

You can donate via bank transfer, cheque or via our Just Giving Page.

We also accept cash donations for which a receipt will always be issued for audit and transparency purposes.

Which children does the Foundation support?

Mercy’s Mighty Foundation supports children within England and Wales who have been diagnosed with a DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Giloma) brain tumour.

We will also consider craft boxes referrals for children with a high grade brain tumour or cancer diagnosis.

My child doesn’t have a DIPG brain tumour – can I still access support from The Foundation?

Yes, we will consider referrals for paediatric brain tumour and cancer patients where a diagnosis is not DIPG centric.

If the referral is accepted we will send a craft box to non-DIPG patients.

My child has a DIPG brain tumour – How do I get a Dream Box and Smyths toy store voucher sent to them?

All referrals for Craft Boxes and Smyths Vouchers must come into the foundation via a registered healthcare professional or social worker, this ensures that the foundation remains accountable and has conducted the necessary due diligence.

We aim to keep the referral process really simple, so please advise a healthcare professional or social worker at the hospital your child is being treated to simply email us some details and we will get in touch with you after receiving the referral from them.

Healthcare professionals and Social workers can also contact us direct and our referral process can be accessed here.

What is your referral process?

Our referral process can be accessed here. We aim to make contact within 72 hours of a referral.

How will the Craft Box and Smyths Voucher be sent out to children?

The Craft Box (containing suitable craft materials for children aged 3-9) will be dispatched via Evri or Parcelforce to the address listed on the referral form. It may also be sent to a hospital ward if the child is an in-patient meaning no child misses out, where ever they are on their DIPG journey.

Please note all Craft Boxes will require a signature upon delivery.

If a referral qualifies for a Smyths Toy Store voucher, the voucher will be emailed electronically to the email address provided on the referral form for the child’s parent or guardian. It can be used online or in-store as soon as it is received.

Can I request an alternative to the Dream Box or Smyths Toy Store voucher?

The items we send out to paediatric brain tumour and cancer patients reflect the passions and personality of Mercy Cuthbertson, who this charity was set up in memory. We aim to promote her legacy by giving other children stimulation and enjoyment in doing the things she loved doing.

There is no alternative or cash alternative to the Craft Box or Smyths Voucher.

I work in a hospital or paediatric healthcare setting and would like craft boxes from Mercy’s Mighty Foundation to support children subject to long-term hospital stays on a ward – Who do I contact?

The foundation will consider requests for craft boxes from hospitals or paediatric healthcare settings where the child will be on a hospital ward or in a recognised healthcare setting for a prolonged period of time.

Any request or enquiry must be submitted via email in the first instance – please get in touch with us at contact@mercysmightyfoundation.org and we will aim to get back to you within 72 hours.

I live outside of England and Wales – will you still provide support?
